My oldest gun, 1760 French Navy pistol. I’m not climbing up to get it down, I have time but I can’t be bothered. This Transit Connect is new to the area but it looks like he put a solar panel on it. Exciting times...

Thanks, I work on shows and we have a shop that includes plastic so they whipped me up a CNC model and cut the pieces and I put it all together.

Do you know the story behind pistol? D id a family member source it during the American Revolution?

No I found it when I was a kid in a flea market in Honolulu, they didn’t seem to think much of it. I’m from Hawaii, half my family went there in the 1860's from Europe. No idea how it got there but lots of ships went through there, maybe some British guy left it there. I had no idea what it was for years, I just liked my pirate gun. I asked the gun museum in Cody, WY and he told me right away. I took it apart and the spring loaded bit that gets released is not very springy anymore so it won’t slam the hammer down very hard. Ok I’ll get it down off the shelf!

I found the form he gave me, one part on it says 1822, apparently many of these were flintlock early on and converted to percussion cap. French military converted percussion pistol with .69 caliber bore, manufactured at the Châtellerault Armory. So they cobbled parts together over time.

Very cool! I really appreciate the extra pictures!

There’s a lot of US military stationed on Oahu. Many servicemen and women are pretty well traveled and some of them pick up some interesting hobbies/collections. My money is someone had an interest in American history/wars

I spent half a year in Hawaii about 10 years ago. Still have some family that lives there. Love going back to visit whenever I get the opportunity as I really enjoy “ seeing” where history happened .
